The split second of floating that precludes a deep sleep – imagine it could last all night long.
Where the 80s took sleeping on water little too literally (think the slip n’ slide effect of waterbeds), 2017 offers a more comfortable take on floating in the bedroom. As part of our Sneak Peek series, Welcome Beyond revealed a modern houseboat on Berlin’s Spree River. As a city built on water, (a swamp to be specific) the capital’s canals, lakes and rivers are a regenerative hallmark to local life. And, where there is water in the urban space, there are maverick solutions to for a calmer, more buoyant life: The houseboat is once part of the city, and a its own floating island. The interior of the bedroom, much like the water outside, reflects its surroundings: A calming palette and minimal fittings that leave room for the hero – the view out the floor-to-ceiling windows. Go on, step out onto the decking, catch the sunset. You’re almost walking on water.
